Getting Started with Muse Lite
Entering the multi-user
"MuseStart Gateway"
To enter the live Muse
portal:
- Launch the "Muse Client" desktop
icon.
- click to begin on the round blue
Muse symbol.
- Upon clicking, you will find an archway of
information available. To proceed to the live
Muse portal, click once again on the green tunnel
(marked "CONNECT TO MUSE PORTAL").
- In the live Muse portal, you will find a selection
of 7 different sites to visit: New User Tour;
Media portal; Galleria; Chess; Collaboration
Demo; Turner Gallery; and Muse Archives. Choose
a site to visit and select it by either using
the center pop-up menu or clicking on the corresponding
site pictures. After selecting a site, make
sure to click the green "GO" button
to complete the site loading process.
- If you are a new user, it is recommended to
take the New User Tour.
- If you want to quickly experience the commercial
demos available, choose from the Media portal,
Galleria, Collaboration demo, or Turner Gallery.
Navigation and Clickable
objects
- The objects that change
color as you pass your mouse over them are "clickable"
objects that will navigate you to different
positions in a site.
- You can also navigate
using the following keys: A, D, W, S, R, F (and
arrow keys). Hold down the shift key while moving
your mouse to look around.
- Drag your mouse over
icons on the task bars to identify the different
functions.
- The Muse symbol on the left of the upper taskbar
returns you to the "Muse Start Gateway."
Finding Users and Sites
- Within the "MuseStart Gateway,"
users may visit sites via clickable graphic
representations. Click on the graphic representation
to zoom up, again on "ENTER," and
then click the green "GO" button in
the upper right to load the site. The same sites
are accessible via a pop-up center menu (select
the title and click "GO").
- The "Community
Visualizor" allows users to locate
other sites and visitors. Select the "Muse
Community" icon (located on the lower task
bar beside the menu). Search either by "Users,"
"Sites," or keywords and click the
"Search" tab. A list of users or sites
will appear. Select one to "visit"
or "join."
- Both the "Visited Sites," and "Marked
Sites" icons are found on the right of
the upper task bar. Try using these menus to
select sites also.
Creating personal Muse
sites
- Muse-Lite includes the "Site Wizard"
application which allows for the point and click
creation of personal 3D Muse sites (launched
via its lower taskbar icon).
- The Site Wizard offers users a choice of site
templates in which to place a variety of web
pages, video, audio, pictures and more. Using
the Community Visualizor, other users may then
find and visit your site.
- In a Muse site, the author has the choice
of allowing others to change webpages, video,
and audio--thus, experiencing simultaneous media
browsing together.
- For more information on creating personal
Muse sites, visit our Site
Wizard User Guide or try the Muse New User
Tour.
- For those interested in creating Muse sites
at the "nuts and bolts" level, the
Muse Development Kit contains a wealth of programming
and art resources to aid in the creation of
custom Muse content and applications. Building
totally custom Muse sites requires some combination
of programming and/or 3D art skills.
- *If your pc is behind a software or hardware
firewall, you will need to configure settings
to allow others to visit your site (see firewall
configuration for important details).
