Question: When I try to install the Muse Lite client I get an error dialog that contains a message about copying ikernal.exe.

Answer: If you are installing the Muse Lite client on a Windows NT/2000/XP system you must be logged in with administrator privileges.

Question: How do i tell if i have the right hardware?

Answer: When you run the Muse Lite client installer, your hardware / installed software is evaluated and a summary is displayed. If your hardware or software installation is not compatible with Muse you can exit and make the appropriate changes.

Question: Is the Muse client available for platforms other than PC?

Answer: Currently the Muse Lite client is only available on the PC. However, Muse was designed from the outset to be cross-platform and versions for Xbox, Macintosh and Linux are under consideration.

Question: Muse immediately displays an error dialog when I try to start it.

Answer: You probably don't have a suitable version of OpenGL installed. The easiest way to remedy this is to install a new video driver. Visit the Web site of the company that manufactured your video card and download the latest version of the driver. For instance, if you have a TNT or GeForce1/2/3/4 card, go to http://www.nvidia.com and look under the "DOWNLOAD DRIVERS" menu.

Question: How do I configure my firewall to share my personal Muse site?

Answer: If you connect to the Internet via a firewall or router, you need to configure your settings to allow other users to visit your site. You will need to enter your "external" IP address in the advanced options menu. To access advanced options, click the online/offline mode icon in the lower right corner of the screen and select the advanced options button to configure your settings.

E.g. TCP Port: 80; IP Address: 127.0.0.1 (input your WAN IP address). The firewall or router should be configured to pass ports 6888 and 80 to your computer. Launch the New User Tour for more instruction.

Question: Muse runs extremly slowly.

Answer: Make sure your system meets the minimum requirements listed on the Web site at http://www.musecorp.com. If it doesn't meet these requirements, you would have seen a warning when you installed the client.

Question: Muse runs extremly slowly even though I have a powerful system.

Answer: You may be using a video driver that renders graphics using software. The easiest way to remedy this is to install a new video driver. Visit the Web site of the company that manufactured your video card and download the latest version of the driver. For instance, if you have a TNT or GeForce card, go to http://www.nvidia.com and look under the "DOWNLOAD DRIVERS" menu.

Question: Muse still runs quite slowly even though I have a powerful system and have the latest video drivers.

Answer: Your desktop might be set to use 32bit color. Right click on the desktop, select "Properties" then "Settings" and make sure 16bit color is selected.

Question: Some of the graphics aren't appearing when I go to a site

Answer: Some of the sites use Apple's QuickTime to load and display graphics. Visit http://quicktime.apple.com and make sure you have the latest version installed.

Question: Some of the videos aren't appearing when I go to a site

Answer: Some of the sites use Windows Media to load and display video. Visit http://www.windowsmedia.com and make sure you have the latest version installed. A good check is to try to view the file using the Media player in Windows. If it can be viewed here then it will work within Muse.
